Cancer Disparities

For Researchers

For Researchers

The Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities (IECD) aims to support research on cancer disparities, particularly within disease-based programs, and to enhance faculty diversity. This section contains resources to further these goals, and to support researchers and staff across DF/HCC. You will find more information about funding and fellowship opportunities, participation in seminar series, and mentorship within DF/HCC including opportunities to mentor students through our Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences program.

The IECD has also compiled new materials to support clinical investigators and research staff in addressing barriers to access to clinical trials. These resources are included as a new section of the DF/HCC Clinical Investigator Toolkit. Specific resources include:

  • Cancer incidence data by gender, race, ethnicity, and diagnosis for the DF/HCC catchment area and the state
  • A sample minority recruitment and outreach plan
  • Links to external resources developed to enhance recruitment and retention of a diverse patient population for cancer clinical trials
