Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities

Partnerships

 

Since 2003, the Cancer Disparities program has successfully collaborated on several new grant proposals, with many members of our Executive Committee serving as principal investigators. Below are three newly funded programs.

DF/HCC - UMass Boston Partnership

The University of Massachusetts Boston and DF/HCC are partnering in cancer research through a U56 collaboration. The main goal of this partnership is to address health disparities in minority populations, and to improve research, training and outreach opportunities for minority students, nurses and scientists. more.

MassCONECT: Bringing Resources to the Underserved

Funded in May 2005 to be an NCI Community Networks Program, this MassCONECT grant joins DF/HCC with community coalitions in three underserved Massachusetts cities óBoston, Lawrence, and Worcesteró to eliminate cancer disparities through education, community-based participatory research and training. Co-investigators: Karen Emmons, Nancy Krieger, and K. Viswanath.
