DNA Sequencing

We offer DNA sequencing services at highly competitive rates for both small and large request sizes (from a few samples to many plates of samples).

Sequencing services include:

  • Same-day sequencing
  • Daily pick-ups in Boston and Cambridge
  • DNA sequencing using ABI 3730 technology
  • DNA miniprep in advance of sequencing
  • Free reruns
  • Standard primers can be added at the facility
  • Plasticware provided at drop-off sites

Questions about sequence preparation, concentrations, troubleshooting, etc.?
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Please see the pricing page for our current prices.

Still have questions? Please contact the core facility manager or visit our website.

Our facility has two ABI 3730 XL DNA sequencing machines.

Plasmid Distribution

We maintain a repository of more than 270,000 unique plasmids and a supporting database of curated information about the plasmids.

The collection includes:

  • Empty vectors useful for routine and cutting-edge molecular techniques
  • Large collections of open reading frame (ORF) clones in recombinational cloning vectors with inserts relevant to human, yeast and several pathogenic microbes
  • Short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs) to be used for gene silencing techniques
  • A hodge-podge of other plasmids shared by various lab groups

You can search and request plasmids on-line at our in-house developed, Oracle database, the Plasmid Information Database (PlasmID).

Still have questions? Please contact the scientific liaison.

Plasmids are stored as glycerol stocks in a fully-automated BioBank freezer storage system.

Plasmid Storage

We offer storage of information and samples for plasmids made in your laboratory.  We work hard to make sample intake easy and have pre-approval from DF/HCC member institutions for transfer of plasmids from your lab to our facility.

Offering your plasmids through our facility makes plasmids easily accessed by researchers across the U.S. and around the world, helping to facilitate research in diverse fields.  Don't spend precious research time and resources on plasmid distribution; let us take on the burden of storage, maintenance and distribution of your popular plasmids.

Questions about sharing plasmids?
Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Please contact the scientific liaison if you still have questions or if you would like to store one, a few or a large collection of plasmids in our repository.

Plasmids are stored in the BioBank in 2D individually 2D barcode-labelled tubes for automated retrieval and re-array in specified formats.
