Rapid Case Identification Core

The Rapid Case Identification Core (RCIC) is designed to support and facilitate epidemiologic and clinical research conducted by DF/HCC investigators by providing patient identification and related services. The RCIC is a service-based core that is designed to identify study eligible patients shortly after diagnosis, ascertain relevant study data via medical record review, assist with IRB approval, provide potential case numbers for grant planning, retrieve pathology specimens and identify population controls.

Rapid case identification cores, such as the RCIC, are typically used to facilitate population-based case-control studies. However, the RCIC can also serve a variety of study design strategies including case-case studies and longitudinal patient cohorts. The RCIC can aid clinical research in identifying eligible patients for therapeutic or behavioral intervention trials or prospective outcomes research.
