Scholarship funds are available for the majority of Courses and Workshops delivered by The Jackson Laboratory. Scholarships are supported by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, NIH grants, foundation awards and gifts or donations to The Jackson Laboratory. Not all courses or workshops are funded by NIH awards.
The Jackson Laboratory strongly encourages the participation of groups under-represented in biomedical sciences, including persons with disabilities. For scholarship awards, first preference will be given to students, post-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty from populations under-represented in the biomedical sciences currently enrolled in, or working at, a U.S. institution. (See also NIH NOT-OD-15-053 for definitions regarding under-represented groups). NIH funded scholarships may be restricted to citizens of the United States.
Scholarship funds will offset either all or a portion of the tuition and fees required to attend the educational program. Funds will not be sent to successful awardees; rather funds are credited to applicants who register to take a course. In a few circumstances travel awards may be available for courses or workshops. Availability of travel awards will be indicated on individual course or workshop home pages on the JAX website.
