DF/HCC Sponsored Funding

A. David Mazzone Research Awards Program

The A. David Mazzone Research Awards Program will fund a series of collaborative and innovative cancer research, career development, community outreach, and training projects to address a range of needs in prostate cancer and Lupron-treatable diseases. Funding Agency: The funding agency for the Program is a grant from the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts of a pool of unclaimed funds from the 2004 class action suit settlement by TAP Pharmaceuticals. The class action suit was related to marketing and sales practices for the prostate cancer drug Lupron. The program is administered jointly through DF/HCC and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Disparities in Cancer: Faculty Diversity Funding Program

New Faculty Recruitment: DF/HCC provides partial funding for the recruitment of new faculty (must be eligible for DF/HCC membership) from under-represented racial/ethnic or disadvantaged backgrounds (URM) to a DF/HCC member institution.
Award amount: multiple awards of up to $100,000 each, to be used over a period of three years
Deadline for submission: open year round

Pilot Projects Program for Current URM Faculty: DF/HCC provides pilot project funding for existing DF/HCC URM faculty who are doing innovative cancer research.
Award amount: multiple awards of up to $75,000 each, to be used in one year
Deadline for submission: open year round

Protocol Specific Research Support

Protocol Specific Research Support (PSRS) funds provide support for important unfunded or under-funded, investigator-initiated, early phase trials, with a focus on facilitating the translation of new treatment or biomarker concepts from laboratory to clinic. Applications are reviewed by the DF/HCC Scientific Resource and Prioritization Committee. For more information, please contact Dr. Jeffrey Clark at (617) 643-3415.
