DF/HCC has more than 40 funded projects underway aimed at understanding the causes of disparities in cancer outcomes among underserved populations. These projects address issues of access to care, access to clinical trials, information about screening and preventive behaviors, smoking cessation, and genetics, all of which are believed to play a role in the excess mortality resulting from cancer in minorities and other underserved populations. DF/HCC’s commitment to reducing disparities crosses all levels of research, clinical care, and institutional administration, and will continue to grow as a central part of our mission.
