My primary research interests focus on health care delivery and the identification of methods to improve uptake of clinical innovation. My focus has largely been on patient safety in surgical care, understanding that improving the quality of surgical care is essential to providing high quality cancer care. I also am active in clinical protocols assessing the outcomes of care for melanoma and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
My clinical interests are in melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma, including retroperitoneal sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. I am actively involved with the multidisciplinary tumor boards for both melanoma and connective tissue oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
I teach surgical residents and surgical oncology fellows in both clinical and didactic settings. I also have two research fellows working with me at Ariadne Labs, where I hold a joint appointment.
