Research Abstract

Cell death removes damaged, pre-cancerous, and infected cells. Many leukemias continue to be resistant to apoptosis and cannot be eradicated by current chemoradiotherapy regimens; in particular, the generation of effective immunological responses against leukemia cells remains a significant challenge. One exciting possibility for cancer biology is that the induction of non-apoptotic immunomodulatory forms of cell death can facilitate robust immunological responses against leukemia antigens. Our research team is harnessing a novel type of cell death that can promote immune responses against leukemia.
