Research Abstract

A major focus in our laboratory is the role of the erbB receptors and their ligands, the neuregulins, in the development and function of the nervous system. Using molecular and cellular biological techniques, as well as genetically modified mice we are studying the role of erbB receptor signaling in glial poliferation, differentiation and function. Since overexpression of erbB receptors (in particular erbB2/neu) can lead to oncogenesis we are also studying the molecular mechanisms that regulate the expression of these receptors.
