Research Abstract

My primary research focus is on the molecular imaging of neurological diseases. We have developed the first small-chelate MR agent targeting myeloperoxidase, an enzyme secreted by neutrophils and macrophages in cancers and other inflammatory diseases. By imaging the inflammatory response surrounding tumors, we may be able to increase our diagnostic sensitivity in detection and in evaluating treatment response. In addition to small-chelate agents, we also employ novel iron-oxide nanoparticle MR agents and optical methods to improve the imaging of oncological diseases.
