Research Abstract

Our research focuses on two areas. First, defining the immune response at the molecular, biochemical and cellular level in response to orthopox vaccination. Identification of the temporal processing of vaccinia proteins, immunogenic peptides, specific antibody responses detected using protein arrays and analysis of the kinetics of the host immune response transcriptome will all provide critical handles for design of efficient vaccines, maximizing the potential host immune response. Second, we are actively involved in defining the molecular events mediated by the plexin/semaphorin axis in thymocyte maturation, with particular focus upon plexin/sema regulation of chemokine-directed thymocyte migration.
