Research Abstract

My research interests include lifestyle factors (diet, weight change, physical activity, and psychosocial factors, common medications) affecting quality of life and survival after a cancer diagnosis, as well as the association between diet and breast cancer risk. Other research interests include diet and lifestyle influences on endogenous levels of steroid hormones and insulin-like growth factors, and ethnic differences in obesity and other lifestyle factors affecting chronic disease risk. Since 2007 I have helped to design a collaborative longitudinal study of non-communicable disease (obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer) at 5 sites in sub-Saharan Africa, called the Africa Harvard School of Public Health Partnership for Cohort Research and Training (PaCT).
