Research Abstract

We study mechanisms of intracellular transport, focusing on the formation of transport carriers that shuttle proteins and membrane within the cell for their proper function. We are also applying these basic insights to understanding key physiological and pathological events. Relevant to cancer biology, we have been elucidating how integrins undergo endocytic recycling to achieve cell migration. As tumors usurp this process for invasion and metastasis, further understanding of integrin recycling will contribute to the elucidation of cancer mechanisms, as well as suggesting potential new targets for future therapeutics.
