Research Abstract

In prostate cancer I am exploring the therapeutic gains possible from radiation dose escalation using conformal radiation therapy with the proton beam. Combinations of external radiation and brachytherapy are also under investigation. A large data-base of over 3000 patients has been developed and is being used to investigate prognostic factors in prostate cancer and to evaluate treatment outcomes. In bladder cancer, together with Dr W.U. Shipley, we have an active program exploring alternatives to cystectomy for muscle-invading tumors.
