Research Abstract
The laboratory studies the mechanism of mutagen-induced mutagenesis and its role in cancer formation. Specifically, we have cloned several human genes involved in translesional DNA synthesis and repair of mutagen-damaged DNA. Using biochemical and genetic tools, we are in the process of characterizing the functions of these genes and their importance in mutagenesis. Modulation of functions of these genes may help to prevent mutations and cancer.Publications
