Research Abstract

Our research interests revolve around the biological significance of morphogenic pathways, such as bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP), Notch, Wnt, and Hedgehog signaling in human melanoma. Using expression analyses, molecular manipulation of target gene expression through viral vectors, and functional assays in in vitro artificial skin/angiogenesis models as well as in experimental animals, we aim to dissect functional roles of morphogens in the maintenance of tumor stem cell niche and tumor-tumor/tumor-stromal interactions during melanoma progression and angiogenesis.
