Research Abstract

My focus is on improving nutrition and physical activity, and preventing/reducing overweight and obesity, particularly among children and adolescents. As Co-PI of The Harvard Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity, I am interested in community-based participatory research in conjuction with systemic partnerships with state government and with private and NGO collaborators in Massachusetts and Maine. Emphases include school-community environments; improving pediatric practice; and early childhood settings and providers as agents of change in families. A global interest is in improving the quality, efficacy, and sustainability of peer education programs applied to a variety of health goals.
