Research Abstract
My research interests fall into three broad categories: 1. Ethical issues in genetics. 2. Physician-patient communication and 3. Medical ethics education. My research in genetics has focused on questions about the privacy and confidentiality of genetic information and obligations to share genetic information with at-risk family. I am also studying the process and content of physician-patient communication with patients who have advanced cancer and with primary care patients. My efforts in medical ethics education have been directed toward a national survey of the current state of medical ethics education with the hope of developing a model medical ethics curriculum for both medical students and housestaff.Publications
