Cancer ImagingResearch Abstract
My major research interests cover two main areas: in vivo MRI/MRS of human breast and prostate cancer and molecular imaging of human cancers. We have shown that the metabolic profile of human breast cancer is different and distinct from benign disease. We are involved in both developing technical improvements in in vivo MRS of breast disease and validating these methods in well defined clinical populations. Our efforts in human prostate cancer are aimed at the non-invasive determination of the agressiveness of the tumor based on its metabolic profile. We are also involved in technical improvements in the MRS methods as applied to the prostate. In the area of molecular imaging we are focusing on the developing MR contrast agents for the visualizing of malignant micro-calcifiactions in human breast disease. We have developed a novel animal model for micro-calcification in breast cancer.Publications
