Cancer EpidemiologyResearch Abstract
My research interests include environmental and occupational exposures and gene-environment interactions as they relate to excess rates of cancers in farmers and agricultural workers. My colleagues and I are currently investigating the mutagenic and hormonal effects of exposure to triazine herbicides, which have been linked to aromatase induction in reptiles, and may be linked to ovarian cancer in women agricultural workers. We are evaluating whether triazine herbicide exposure affects Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Leutenizing Hormone (LH) and testosterone production. We are also evaluating whether the allelic variants in the CYP1A2 gene affects triazine metabolization and ultimately toxicity. Additionally I am interested in the design and evaluation of cancer preventive interventions to reduce hazardous exposures in occupational populations.Publications
