Research Abstract
The evaluation of endogenous and inducible anti-tumor immunity is essential for vaccine development in solid tumors. My laboratory is examining the role of both antibody and cell-mediated immune responses to antigens overexpressed in breast cancer and other solid tumors, first identified by gene overexpression and later confirmed by protein overexpression in both pre-invasive and invasive cancers. We have also demonstrated that some proteins lead to autoantibody production by the immune system in a subset of patients. As a member of the Early Detection Research Network, we are using protein microarrays to identify autoantibodies in patients with early stage cancers, for potential biomarker development and to monitor immune responses to vaccine therapies.Publications
