Research Abstract
Dr. Schwartzman specializes on statistical signal and image analysis. His work in relation to cancer involves two areas of biostatistical research. The first, in collaboration with the Department of Imaging at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, concerns the detection of changes in metabolic response of brain tumors using PET images. The second, in collaboration with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, concerns the problem of peak detection in continuous signals, applied to identification of binding sites of transcription factors along the genome, analysis of copy number variation data, and analysis of mass spectrometry data with the goal of finding cancer biomarkers.
