Research Abstract

The Andrews Laboratory studies mouse models of human iron deficiency and iron overload disorders. We use mice with spontaneous and induced mutations to understand iron absorption, iron balance and erythropoiesis. We are particularly interested in genetic hemochromatosis, modifiers of iron loading and the anemia of chronic disease.
