Research Abstract

My research focuses on secondary cancer prevention and detection in childhood cancer survivors. Ongoing studies include assessment of genetic risk factors for primary and secondary cancers, evaluation of breast cancer screening after chest irradiation during childhood and studies of the role of genetic counseling and genetic testing in promoting quality-of-life of survivors. In addition, we are interested in the long-term effects of cancer treatment on adolescent and young adult survivors, specifically assessing medical and psychological outcomes such as hearing, fertility and cardiac function after chemotherapy exposure and cognitive function after brain irradiation.
