Research Abstract

My interest is in the design and conduct of clinical trials of novel therapies in Multiple Myeloma and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. One focus is to improve outcomes in the older population with multiple myeloma. We are in the process of designing a clinical trial using a combination of an immunomodulatory agent and a proteasome inhibitor in newly diagnosed patients with multiple myeloma. Another area of interest is the study of epigenetic modulators and the role of epigenetic changes in the evolution of the disease. I am also collaborating on studies to optimize the role of high dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation for multiple myeloma in the era of novel agents and to better understand the long term complications of these therapies.
