Gynecologic Cancers

Research Abstract

My clinical and research focus is the development and incorporation of minimally invasive surgical techniques within gynecologic oncology. My fellowship training at The University of North Carolina, an institution internationally recognized for its leadership in development of minimally invasive surgical practice in gynecologic oncology, emphasized innovation and critical reevaluation of historical surgical paradigms. Since completion of my formal training, I have continued to expand my skills, routinely utilizing laparoscopy to perform retroperitoneal lympadenectomy for staging gynecologic cancers, radical hysterectomy for treatment of cervical cancer, and staging and debulking of ovarian malignancies. Expanded patient access to these beneficial procedures has been a priority of mine as well, as I currently perform them at North Shore Hospital as well as at Massachusetts General Hospital.

In addition to my emphasis on clinical expertise, I sincerely prioritize contributions to teaching and education. I am proud to have won a teaching award during every phase of my career: the Harvard Medical School Outstanding Teacher of Ob-Gyn Award as a resident, the UNC Fellow’s Award for Teaching Excellence as a fellow, and the American College of Ob-Gyn, Council on Resident Education Teaching Award as an attending physician. At MGH I continue to mentor students, residents, and fellows on their own path to excellence.
