Research Abstract

Dr Anand Singh's research focuses on developing novel CT and MRI Imaging-based computer-aided quantification techniques to provide objective viable tumor estimates. The studies involve integration of pathology slides and corresponding CT/MRI image viable tissue correlates to optimize and update the software which is currently being performed on bone and soft tissue sarcoma's liver and pancreatic cancer. The long term goal is to develop a more reliable imaging-based viable tumor quantification technique with integration in clinical workflow and thus provide a more objective imaging-based estimate of viable tumor tissue to assess treatment response. Current work has been initiated on a prospective basis at MGH Cancer Center for sarcoma where viable scores/cells from excised pathology specimens are being compared with MRI estimates. We use computer-aided principles such as edge detection and feature analysis to quantify various tumor tissue fractions.
