Research Abstract

My clinical and research activities are focused on the development of translational therapeutic advances especially for the treatment of melanoma. My clinical responsibilities are for patients with melanoma and I act as a liaison between the melanoma group and the Early Drug Development Center (phase I). I have participated in the performance of clinical trials for melanoma, sarcoma and advanced solid tumor patients and have been actively involved in the development of novel research proposals to improve the treatment options for these patients. My research interests are predominately in the development of novel molecular targeting strategies. I have developed several successful clinical investigations that are currently being actualized in several arenas. These have included the development of rational, molecularly tailored trials investigating growth factors, oncogenic kinases and angiogenesis as well as combinations of these with immunotherapy. In addition to improving the therapeutic options available to patients, I am committed a two way process of communication and facilitation of resources between the clinic and the laboratory.
