Research Abstract

I am interested in studying the genetic changes associated with tumor progression. Specifically our lab uses the zebrafish as a model organism and has isolated cell cycle mutants that are susceptible to cancer in a carcinogenesis assay. The zebrafish exposed to carcinogen develop pathologically distinct lesions including hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma as well as potential pre-neoplastic lesions. We are interested in defining genetic changes that are associated with stages of tumorigenesis and how changes in gene expression contribute to the neoplastic phenotype.
