SarcomaResearch Abstract
Research focuses on the diagnosis and amelioration of late cardiac effects in cancer survivors and understanding treatment-related cardiac effects in patients currently undergoing cancer treatment. Ongoing studies include: 1) the use of noninvasive imaging to detect and manage radiation-induced heart disease in long-term Hodgkin’s Disease survivors and 2) the cardiac effects of new experimental cancer therapies such as SU11248. Previous research, supported by the American Heart Association, explored ways of modifying radiation therapy delivery to decrease cardiotoxicity during breast cancer treatment. Additional interests include assessing disease prevalence amongst diverse populations.Publications
