Research Abstract

Major research activities include the identification of nutritional and hormonal determinants of cancer risk. A major focus has been the development of epidemiologic methods to measure dietary intake in large epidemiologic studies. These have been applied in three large cohorts totaling over 250,000 men and women: The Nurses' Health Study, Nurses' Health Study II, and Health Professionals Follow-up Study. In these studies plasma and DNA samples have been collected from nearly 100,000 participants, which allows the evaluation of hormonal and genetic hypotheses.
