Breast CancerResearch Abstract
My research focuses on tailoring clinical treatments to specific subpopulations of patients with breast cancer. The goal is two fold: 1. Identify therapies and supportive care most likely to be effective and/or essential and 2. Limit treatment and toxicity to only those who will benefit. We have recently performed and published the first systematic review of inflammatory breast cancer, a rare subtype that has a unique biology and clinical presentation, for which unique treatments may be indicated. In addition, we have utilized large data sets from completed phase III adjuvant trials, kindly provided by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, to create a patient specific predictive model to predict the need for cytokine support to prevent dose reductions. Past collaborations have contributed to phase III studies on the role of stem cell transplantation in metastatic breast cancer (NEJM) and the role of docetaxel in stage II-IV breast cancer (JCO)Publications
