Research Abstract

Dr. Finkelstein's research is focused on the development of semi-parametric methodology for analyzing the effect of covariates on failure time distributions that arise in Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and cancer epidemiological studies and clinical trials. She has developed methods for analyzing the failure time distributions from interval censored data. Such interval censored data arise in screening studies, where the infection time is not known exactly, but rather is only known to lie in an interval which is of different length for each individual. Dr. Finkelstein's research has also focused on the development of methods for analyzing animal carcinogenicity experiments. Dr. Finkelstein is the director of Biostatistics at the MGH Cancer Center. In addition, she is the Principal Investigator for the Statistical Coordinating Center for the NCI sponsored Cancer Genetics Network.
