National Cancer Institute Educational Program in Cancer Prevention

The Harvard School of Public Health's Departments of Society, Human Development and Health, Epidemiology, and Nutrition and the Dana-Farber/ Harvard Cancer Center Population Sciences invite applications for a joint fellowship in cancer prevention and control. 

The program's objective is to train researchers in the design and evaluation of cancer prevention and control. Applicants may work in any area related to cancer prevention.  In addition to prevention policy, potential areas of research include health care providers, worksites, schools or youth, or underserved populations.  

The overall goal of the program is to create a cadre of public health and clinical professionals who will be:
(a) knowledgeable about the current state of the science of cancer prevention;
(b) experts in a specialized research area in which they will be positioned to
     generate new knowledge and public health practice to advance cancer prevention;
(c) skilled in policy analysis; and
(d) sufficiently well anchored in professional networks that they will be able to monitor future developments in the field of cancer prevention and translate their knowledge into cancer prevention research at a variety of institutional settings.
    
Levels of training
: Postdoctoral research (non-degree), postdoctoral research for MD's obtaining a degree (MS, MPH) with a research focus, and predoctoral degree.

Eligibility: Applicants for the postdoctoral position must have a doctoral degree in the social and behavioral sciences (e.g. sociology, psychology, economics), epidemiology, biostatistics, decision sciences, nutrition, nursing, genetics, education, or related fields, or have an MD degree.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Applications from women and minorities are especially welcome.
