Request for Applications: Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Kidney Cancer Program

The Kidney Cancer Program of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, under the leadership of Dr. Michael B. Atkins, seeks applications for funding of research on kidney cancer. Funding will be provided through the Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) mechanism, a National Cancer Institute sponsored program. Applications must include one investigator on the faculty at Harvard Medical School at the level of Instructor or higher. While the proposed research can be basic or clinical, bench to bedside and bedside to bench strategies need to be addressed, since the purpose of this program is to promote translational research in kidney cancer. Applications will be judged on their scientific merit, relevance to kidney cancer, potential for future translation to clinical application, qualifications of the research team and the potential fit within the overall activities of the DF/HCC Kidney Cancer Program/Kidney Cancer SPORE.

Funding will be for up to $58,427 in total costs (inclusive of F&A) per year. Although the opportunity exists for extending funding beyond one year, proposals should, in general, focus on a year’s worth of research. Applications should be sent electronically to Tara Johnston, Program Administrator at tjohnst1@bidmc.harvard.edu no later than 4 pm on 04/20/12. A prior track record in kidney cancer research is preferred but not necessary. Minority and women applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
