Cancer Nursing

The Cancer Nursing working group is comprised of nurse scientists from within DF/HCC or from academic or clinical institutions in the greater Boston area. This working group's research is aimed at improving cancer patients' and families' quality of life as well as quality of care.

The focus of the research is primarily three areas: symptoms, interventions, and outcomes. Symptoms may include physical symptoms that result from cancer treatment or the disease itself, or they may be emotional/psychological symptoms resulting from the cancer experience, such as psychological distress, anxiety, or fear of recurrence. Interventions may be behavioral, psychosocial, or pharmacological. Outcomes may be quality of life related, physiological/biomarkers, disease-related clinical outcomes, health care utilization, or health care systems outcomes.
