NCI Investigator Registration: Important Updates

DF/HCC  Annual Re-Registration 2017 Status Update

All attending physicians participating in any National Cancer Institute (NCI) sponsored or funded research were required to re-register with the NCI Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) for 2017. The Office of Data Quality (ODQ) has been coordinating this process and collecting the hard copy renewal packets as in previous years. To date, the ODQ has submitted re-registration packets for 681 of 706 physicians.

All re-registration packets must be delivered to the ODQ by July 21, 2017, in order to be received by the NCI in time. The NCI has indicated that they will no longer accept paper materials after July 31, 2017.

NCI Registration Process after July 31, 2017

CTEP’s new online Registration and Credential Repository (RCR) will launch on Monday, July 31, 2017.  Any individuals needing to register (or re-register) with the NCI must do so through the online RCR.

With the rollout of the RCR, the NCI will require all individuals involved in the conduct of NCI-supported trials as an Investigator (IVR), Non-Physician Investigator (NPIVR), or Associate Plus (AP) (i.e., those needing access to OPEN and/or RAVE, conducting audits, or acting as primary points of contact for their organization) to register and re-register through the online RCR application.

In order to register or re-register in the RCR system, IVRs, NPIVRs and APs will need Human Subjects’ Protection (HSP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training certificates and a CTEP IAM account (see

The Office of Data Quality is working with the NCI to coordinate DF/HCC's transition to the online RCR application. More information is available on the ODQ's NCI Registration webpage; however, the NCI continues to update us with new details and the ODQ expects to frequently update this page over the next couple of months.
