Cancer Genetics Program

The DF/HCC Cancer Genetics Program seeks to expand the understanding of the genetic underpinnings of cancer development and to use this information to improve cancer patient care. Its research ranges from basic to translational to clinical.

Advancements by the Program’s more than 100 members have impacted cancer research in genetics nationally and internationally. Areas of particular strength within the Program include analysis of the cancer genome on a broad scale, cancer stem cell studies, functional genomics screens to identify critical oncogenic pathways, GWAS studies for identification of low-risk alleles and studies of functional mechanisms of such alleles, and provision of cancer mutation analyses by CLIA-certified laboratories among DF/HCC institutions.
