DF/HCC Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs)
Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) member institutions hold a number of the National Cancer Institute's Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs). These funding mechanisms seek to find new and diverse approaches to the prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of human cancers through SPORE grants that support both basic and clinical/applied scientists. Each SPORE focuses on a specific organ and designed to enable the rapid and efficient movement of basic scientific findings into clinical settings, as well as to determine the biological basis for observations made in individuals with cancer or in populations at risk for cancer.
