Research Abstract
My research has primarily focused on nutrition and cancer epidemiology. Main themes of my research have been determination of the role of plant-based diets, particularly fruits and vegetables, alcohol consumption, and vitamin D in the development of both common and less common cancers. In addition, my research has evaluated associations between other dietary factors and anthropometric factors and risk of breast, lung, colorectal, renal cell, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancer. Most of my research has been conducted in two international consortia including over 20 participating cohort studies that I lead: the Pooling Project of Prospective Studies of Diet and Cancer (DCPP) and the Vitamin D Pooling Project (VDPP) of Breast and Colorectal Cancer.
