Research Abstract
Dr. Jamie Jacobs is a Clinical Assistant in Psychology at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and the Director of Caregiver Research in the MGH Cancer Outcomes Research Program (CORe). In addition to the MGH CORe Program, she holds appointments in the MGH Center for Psychiatric Oncology and Behavioral Sciences, the MGH Behavioral Medicine Service, and the Mongan Institute Health Policy Center. She has expertise developing and testing supportive, evidence-based, caregiver-directed, and patient-centered interventions in behavioral oncology, with a focus on study design, methodology, and implementation of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Currently, she is the Principal Investigator on a Career Development Award (K07) from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to develop and test a patient-centered, evidence-based, telehealth intervention to enhance adherence to adjuvant endocrine therapy, reduce distress, and improve symptom management for early-stage hormone receptor-positive breast cancer survivors. She is also the Co-Investigator on two funded-RCTs to develop and test an evidence-based psychosocial intervention for managing symptoms of stress and burden in caregivers of patients with advanced cancer. Dr. Jacobs is a Lecturer at Harvard University, for which she instructs a seminar course in Psycho-Oncology.
