Research Abstract

As Clinical Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, I will lead a team of investigators and make a bigger impact on outcomes of children with CNS tumors. This will enable me to more rapidly acquire and translate pre-clinical data into clinical trials for children with CNS tumors. My immediate plans include establishment of an animal model pre-clinical trial core as an extension and expansion to the DIPG All-In initiative. These in depth pre-clinical studies will serve to strengthen the scientific rationale and study design of clinical trials for children with specific CNS tumors, improve the efficiency of clinical trials by incorporating an initial dose at or near the biologically effective dose, and increase each patient’s chance of deriving clinical benefit by ensuring adequate dosing and drug delivery.
