Research Abstract
Dr. Miryam Yusufov studies psychological suffering in patients with cancer. Her current research focuses on psychological constructs that fuel substance use disorder risk in patients with cancer on opioid therapy. She has received research funding from the Oppenheimer Family Research Grants Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and serves as Co-Investigator on multiple projects that investigate applications of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to oncology. Dr. Yusufov is the recipient of a K08 Career Development Award from National Cancer Institute, focused on developing a behavioral intervention for patients with cancer at risk for substance use disorder. Her clinical work at Dana-Farber is focused on exposure-based therapies for anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and specific phobias. Dr. Yusufov also teaches statistics and research methodology and serves as Chair for the Advanced Methods and Statistics Series for the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
