Research Abstract
My aim is to provide laboratory expertise that is available for collaborative projects with the Departments of Pulmonary Medical Oncology and Surgery at Dana Farber. This will include obtaining normal and neoplastic tissue (frozen-tissue bank, paraffin blocks), immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection, and DNA retrieval and analysis. My efforts are dedicated to the identification and investigation of the molecular genetics and genomics of pulmonary neoplasia with an emphasis on translational applications to the management of patients with pulmonary and pleural-based cancer. Based on this work we will be able to refine our ability to predict the tumor response to therapy and to prognosticate with a higher probability a patient’s disease-free and overall survival.
