Research Abstract
My major research interests are soft tissue sarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), gastrointestinal cancers, and mastocytosis. My focus in soft tissue sarcomas includes evaluating histologic and immunohistochemical parameters that predict clinical outcome, and identifying diagnostic and predictive biomarkers. I study "wild-type" GISTs, focusing on the pathogenesis and clinical significance of succinate dehydrogenase-deficient GIST. I also investigate succinate dehydrogenase deficiency in paraganglioma and renal cell carcinoma. I am interested in extramedullary mastocytosis, especially involvement of the gastrointestinal tract. I also study biomarkers in lung cancer, colon cancer, and neuroendocrine tumors.
