Research Abstract
My research interests include targeted smoking cessation programs, campus-based smoking cessation policies, health behaviors of cancer patients and survivors, patient-physician communication, and cultural interpretations of health. I have extensive experience designating and evaluating behavioral counseling programs. I am also experienced in qualitative research development. I have published in the areas of physician behavior change, behavior change (smoking cessation, nutrition and exercise) for breast and childhood cancer survivors, telephone-delivered smoking cessation interventions, and the role of culture on cancer preventative behaviors and beliefs. Additionally, I have published qualitative papers on smoking behaviors of cancer survivors, quality of care for terminal cancer patients, and cultural competence in health care.
