Research Abstract

My research and publications have focused on sexuality and health among Asian American women, and among Asian adolescents. I was a co-PI on research that focused on the health and mental health needs of elderly Asian women in the Boston area and worked with a team that included a nursing professor and two masters-level nursing students. I was also a leader of a clinical team that provided services to HIV-positive Asian American adolescents in the Boston area. At UMASS Boston, I am leading a small group of doctoral students in a research project on the effects and intersections of sexuality and identity on sexual minority Asian women. I am interested in addressing issues of public policy, sexuality and psychological aspects of the Asian women and Latina population. A proposed collaborative project with Drs. Recklitis and Sanchez Varela catalyzes a new collaboration that will lead to an expansion of my sexuality research and clinical work with minority groups to understanding cultural and linguistic differences among breast cancer survivors.
