2024 National Minority Health Month at DF/HCC

DF/HCC Communications   |   Published  03/08/2024

April is National Minority Health Month (NMHM) and in addition, the third week in April has been designated as National Minority Cancer Awareness. At Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) we extend our efforts to raise awareness about cancer in racial and ethnic minority communities and reducing cancer care disparities through programs and other initiatives that are hosted throughout Massachusetts, our catchment area, including Boston, Greater Boston and Western MA.

Each year, DF/HCC's IECD (Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities) hosts and engages in a number of programs to enhance awareness on cancer and cancer prevention. We invite you to check out the various programs as you consider your plans to participate in eliminating the unequal burden of cancer.

Some of IECD's hosted events are centered around the April 11th Faces of Faith Unveil, and the week of April 22nd Faces of Faith – Cancer Survivorship photo exhibit at the MA State House. The Faces of Faith events represent IECD's continuous commitment to destigmatize the negative connotations associated with cancer and this year marks the events' 12th anniversary.
