EVENT HIGHLIGHT | Education Day Symposium

On Friday, July 11th, 2025, in partnership with the U54 Research Education Core (REC) and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Workforce Development program, the CURE program hosted its annual Education Day Symposium. Students of all three programs got the chance to participate in the professional development focused symposium complete with a keynote address by Harvard Medical School Dean for Culture and Community Engagement, Joan Reede, MD, MPH, MS, MBA as well as an inspiring cancer survivor’s panel, informative career advancement and personal growth breakout sessions and a peer networking session. When asked about their favorite aspect of the Education Day Symposium, students responded saying, “The keynote address by Dr. Reede was my favorite. Her story, determination, and resilience set the tone for the rest of the program,” and “I really enjoyed the cancer survivorship panel! It made me see the real life impact of science and the work we’re doing at our labs.” This year, the cancer survivor’s panel in particular was unique in that it featured panelists representing survivors from the younger generation. Post-Bacc and Graduate students from both the CURE and U54 REC programs also presented their research during a scientific talks session which was another highlight to Education Day programming this year.
